Coaching

After nearly 20 years behind the chair, I know there’s a lot more to building a successful career than being great at hair. From training stylists and managing salons to building and growing my own independent business, I’ve experienced the many sides of this industry firsthand.

I also know how valuable it can be to have someone in your corner. My goal as a coach is to share what I’ve learned, simplify the business side of being a hairstylist, and help other stylists and salon owners move forward with more confidence, clarity and support.

1:1 Coaching

You already know how to do great hair. Now let’s make sure you know how to run a great business.

Making the move from employee stylist to independent stylist can feel exciting- and completely overwhelming. Suddenly, you’re not only responsible for the hair. You’re responsible for pricing, booking, policies, inventory, expenses, guest communication, marketing and all of the little decisions that come with running your own business.

I’ve made the transition myself, and I’ve built systems that helped me grow my independent business quickly and confidently. Now I want to help other stylists do the same- without feeling like they have to figure everything out on their own.

Whether you’re still thinking about going independent , getting ready to make the move, or newly on your own, we can work together to create a plan that feels manageable. We’ll cover what you need, including things like setting up your service menus and pricing, creating policies and booking systems, managing expenses and inventory, building a guest experience, marketing yourself, and learning how to think like a business owner- not just a hairstylist.

Salon Team Coaching

A strong salon isn’t built by individual stylists working side by side. It’s built by a team working toward something together.

I’ve spent much of my career working in smaller, team-focused salons, including years in salon management and stylist training. I know how important it is to create a culture where stylists feel supported and valued while still having clear expectations, individual goals and accountability.

Salon Team Coaching is designed for independent salon owners and teams of up to 10 stylists who want to strengthen both the business and the team behind it.

Together, we can work on the systems that keep your team moving forward - from tracking numbers and setting individual goals to weekly and monthly check-ins, performance reviews, marketing, growing and maintaining clientele, consultations and the overall guest experience.

But numbers and systems are only one part of a successful salon. We can also focus on creating a stronger team culture: improving communication, supporting one another, celebrating individual and team wins, and helping each stylist understand how their own growth contributes to the success of the salon as a whole.

Salon Team Coaching can include both in-person and virtual support, with a combination of leadership coaching, team meetings and individual stylist check-ins based on your salon’s needs.

Foiling Education

Back to Basics

Build confidence in foundational foiling techniques while learning reliable, go-to patterns you can use behind the chair again and again. We’ll break down placement, sectioning, and coverage for 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full head applications, helping you understand where to place your foils- and why- so you can work with more confidence and consistency.

Advanced Foiling

Take your foiling beyond the basics with strategic placement designed to create beautiful coverage through the top of the head, regardless of where your guest parts their hair. You’ll also learn a hand-painted tip out technique to brighten mid-lengths and ends, giving you another tool for creating dimensional, customized colors behind the chair that your guests will love.

Inside Out Color

Learn how to combine foiling and base color in one efficient time-saving application. We’ll work through placement, application and timing, so both services can process together, eliminating the need for a post-foil root application. The inside out color service is designed to create beautiful results without adding unnecessary time to your appointment.

Look + Learn or Hands-On Training 

2 Hours | $60 per stylist                                                          $300 class minimum

Look + Learn

Watch the technique from start to finish while I walk you through placement, sectioning, application and the thought process behind each step. Look + Learn classes are designed to be conversational and interactive, with plenty of time to ask questions along the way, while giving you the visual foundation to practice the technique on your own time.

Take what you’re learning and put it into practice. I’ll demonstrate the technique and then guide you through the application yourself, offering individual feedback and support along the way. Hands-On Training gives you more time to work through the technique, ask questions and build confidence before taking it back behind the chair.

I’ll bring everything needed for my demonstration. Each participating stylist will bring their own tools, products and mannequin so we can work through the technique together.

  • Foiling Education is designed to come to you! Classes are held at your salon within the Chicago area. Travel outside the city may also be available and can be discussed when scheduling.

  • No. Look + Learn classes have a $300 minimum and Hands-On Training has a $600 minimum. You’re welcome to divide that cost among any number of participating stylists. For example, two stylists can book a Look + Learn together fpr $150 per person.

  • I’ll bring everything needed for my mannequin demonstrations. For Hands-On Training, each participating stylist will bring their own mannequin, tools, foils and color supplies so they can practice the technique. A complete supply list is provided above and can also be confirmed before class.

  • Yes. If your salon or team has a specific education need that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the three class options, reach out. I’m happy to discuss creating an education experience around your goals.

  • 1:1 Coaching is available virtually through Zoom, while Team Coaching can be held virtually or in-person at your salon. Coaching is customized around what you actually need help with - from pricing, service menus, and consultations to marketing, booking strategies, guest experience, retention and more.

  • Education is designed primarily for strengthening your technical skills behind the chair. Coaching focuses on the business behind your chair or salon. And sometimes you may need a little of both! A complimentary 20- minute discovery call is available so we can talk about where you are, what you’re working towards, and what kind of support would be most helpful.
